Class Descriptions:  TUESDAY March 27th 10:00am – 3:30pm

Morning Session 10:00 – 12:00 Multi Media Art :

What can you create when you mix up watercolor, markers, pencils, collage and more? Spend a relaxing few hours creating original art with help and guidance from patient skilled adults. Supplies provided 10:00 – 12:00 $25.

Marble Runs and Rube Goldberg Machine Challenge;

Use your engineering skills to create long marble runs with dips, jumps and loops.   Imagine and assemble Rube Goldberg Machine contraptions using provided materials and challenges. Demonstrate your creations for others.  10:00 – 12:00 $25

Owls & Ospreys

Dissect an owl pellet and explore what Owls eat. Learn about Owl sounds and learn to identify species by sound. Make a Barn Owl mobile to hang up at home. Learn more about Ospreys and how they live. Learn where you can see Ospreys.  10:00 – 12:00 $25

Afternoon Session 12:30 – 3:30 Native American Games & Stories:

Make your own version of some of the games that Native American children played generations ago. Simple things found in the environment were used to create games of luck, challenge and amusement. Native American stories helped young people learn how to survive in their world. We will explore games and stories together. 12:30 – 3:30 $35

Coal Burned, Custom Carved Cedar Spoons

Learn how wooden spoons were made in colonial times and before. Participants learn primitive skills like manipulating hot coals and using Mora Knives to burn and carve cedar wood into a useful utensil. Each participant takes home their own custom spoon.

Hot Air Balloons:

Make and float your own tissue paper hot air balloon!   Design, create and assemble your own custom paper hot air balloon. Choose your colors and patterns, trace the sample onto your tissue paper. Cut out and assemble the multi-sided, gusseted tissue paper balloon. Test the Balloon using the indoor Balloon Launcher and see how high you can get your Balloon to float! Take your balloon home.  12:30 – 3:30 $35

Morning Session 10:00 – 12:00 Stewart Geocache Ramble

Stewart Preserve is home to hundreds of Geocaches of all sizes and difficulties. After creating some trinkets to leave for others we will prepare for our searching adventure. Using the Geocaching App we will enter the preserve and wander from cache to cache searching for as many as we can identify.  10:00 – 12:00 $25

Stop Motion Animation for Beginners:

Using iPads and simple materials we will show you how to create Stop motion Movies using action figures, clay, white boards and other commonly found materials. Go home with the skills you need to create your own movies.  10:00 – 12:00 $25

Afternoon Session 12:30 – 3:30 Treats from HoneyDukes: Cooking with Harry Potter
Just added – new session of Honeydukes Class! We will make and take home several of the favorite treats featured in the JK Rowling series.   While we sip Butterbeer we will make Chocolate Frogs, Canary Creams, Cockroach Clusters, Pumpkin Pasties, and Fizzy Lollipops. Participants will get to take home lots of treats to share, including some beautiful Candy Packaging

Mag-Lev Racers and Hovercraft Explorations

Build and race your own Magnetic Levitation Racer and let it float on our Mag Lev track. Race other Mag-Lev Racers and experiment with different features to see how fast you can get. Learn about Hovercraft basics by assembling a balloon-powered hovercraft made of common materials. Take home your hovercraft and racer. 12:30 – 3:30 $35

Morning Session 10:00 – 12:00  Green Slime, Oobleck and Fluffy Slime

Mix up a batch of clear green slime from scratch. Stretchy, slimy, and glowy green slime is all the rage lately.   Make puffy Unicorn Slime too!   Learn how to make your own batch and take it home.  10:00 – 12:00 $25

Stewart Geocache Ramble

Beginner Computer Programming and Logic

Students with no or little experience with computer coding will be introduced to coding and logic concepts and given opportunities for simple coding games. Students can progress at their own speed and create games and animations of their own interest. 12:30 – 3:30 $35
